Robert "Rocky" Crocker

Robert L. Crocker, M.D., a board certified family physician and Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine fellowship graduate, is the Director of Strategic Clinical Planning and Implementation at the University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine (AzCIM), where he is also Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine.  Dr. Crocker was initially brought to AzCIM as a fulltime consultant to lead their efforts in developing and implementing a new model of integrative primary care.  Dr. Crocker previously held the position of Chief Medical Officer and executive vice-president at American Specialty Health (ASH), a national company offering complementary health benefits, telephone-based health and wellness coaching, and fitness networks to several million Americans.  


Dr. Crocker went to ASH following a distinguished career in private practice, and then as national medical director and senior vice president for WellPoint Health Networks.  At WellPoint he worked closely with large public and private employers to develop and implement health benefits for disease management, wellness and prevention programs, in addition to managing the credentialing, accreditation, quality improvement, pharmacy benefit and clinical programs for the company. Additionally, he established a consulting practice in 2005 that has provided support for organizations and individuals seeking meaningful change, as well as support for organizations seeking to transform their clinical business model. In 1991, Dr. Crocker founded a non-profit organization that provided healthcare consulting services, disaster relief, safe water projects and health research for the government and people of Uzbekistan.  In addition to his responsibilities at AzCIM, he is serving as an indigenous health consultant for an aboriginal cooperative in southeastern Australia.
