Jennifer Akazawa is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Tucson. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley with a bachelors in Cognitive Science. She spent the next four years researching schizophrenia at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center and the University of California, San Francisco. During this time, she found that she desired to provide long-term care to her patients beyond the parameters of the clinical research setting. As a result, she decided to attend medical school to become a family medicine physician who provides her patients with compassionate, longitudinal, personalized care.
